Job Title: Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant
Location: Bedford
Start Date: Immediate Start
Contract Type: Full-Time (Term-Time Only)
Contract Review: February 2026 (before half term)
Day Rate: £90–£100 per day (pro-rata, dependent on experience)

A warm, inclusive mainstream primary school in Bedford is looking for a KS2 Teaching Assistant who can hit the ground running and make an immediate impact across Years 3–6. If you love helping older primary pupils grow academically and emotionally and you thrive in a buzz of purposeful learning - this role is for you!

This is a full-time, fixed-term position where you’ll play a key role in supporting class teachers, building pupil confidence, and creating a positive learning environment that inspires progress every day.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting KS2 pupils across core subjects, particularly reading, writing, and maths
  • Delivering targeted interventions and small-group work to boost progress
  • Helping pupils develop independence, resilience, and strong learning habits
  • Partnering closely with teachers to create engaging, structured and supportive lessons
  • Promoting positive behaviour, focus and emotional wellbeing
  • Ensuring all safeguarding and pastoral needs are met with care and consistency

What We’re Looking For

  • Level 2 qualification or relevant experience supporting children in KS2
  • Confident with the KS2 curriculum and supporting pupils at varying ability levels
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English & Maths or equivalent)
  • A calm, warm and proactive communicator who builds strong rapport quickly
  • Someone adaptable, reliable and passionate about helping older primary pupils succeed
  • A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
