A primary school in Leeds are looking for a KS2 Teacher to take their Year 5 class for at least the 1st term of next academic year. If you are a recently qualified or fully qualified teacher with KS2 experience then this could be the role for you!
The school want to take a Teacher through the agency initially for a term from September - December 2021 and if they are happy with performance then offer the teacher a contract with the school in the new year. The class teacher for this current role is being moved up to Year 6, and so they need someone with experience in KS2 and preferably upper KS2 to take over the current Year 5 class. The school is rated as GOOD by Ofsted and is a 2 form entry school.
The school need a candidate who is confident in KS2 and with behaviour management, as the class in question respond well to a firm teacher who maintains good control of the class. There are lots of capable children in the class but behaviour can at times be noisy and distracting, so the school require a confident teacher who can establish good relationships to prevent this detracting from the learning. Knowledge of the curriculum in upper KS2 is also extremely important to the school as this year is crucial for setting up good scores in the next year’s KS2 SATs. Therefore someone who has experience of teaching this curriculum would undoubtedly be a big bonus for the school.
The school have a strong support network in place, particularly from the other Year 5 Teacher who has taught in that year group for the last 5 years. Therefore, joint planning and marking can be utilised to achieve the best results across the year group. There is also an SEN 1-2-1 TA in the class supporting a child with Autism, as well as a separate general class TA. Therefore, you are able to rely on experienced members of staff for smaller group work and challenging behaviour at times.
