Job Title: Key Stage 1 Class Teacher

Start Date: September 2025
Location: Whelley, Wigan (WN1)
Pay Rate: £140 – £180 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary (with potential to become permanent)

A friendly and forward-thinking primary school in the Whelley area of Wigan is seeking a passionate and committed Key Stage 1 Teacher to join their dedicated team from September 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver creative and engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum for Key Stage 1.
  • Plan, deliver, and assess learning effectively, adapting to meet the needs of all pupils.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour and encourage independence, curiosity, and resilience in young learners.
  • Track pupil progress and use assessment data to inform future teaching.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and support a positive, inclusive school culture.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Recent experience teaching within Key Stage 1.
  • Strong understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum and assessment expectations.
  • Excellent classroom management and behaviour strategies.
  • Ability to motivate, inspire, and support all learners.
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable:

  • Experience with phonics teaching and early reading development.
  • Knowledge of SEND and strategies for effective inclusion.
  • Willingness to contribute to extracurricular activities or curriculum enrichment.
