Intervention Lead – Durham Secondary School

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and motivated Intervention Lead to support students' progress in Maths and English through targeted small group interventions. This role is ideal for someone passionate about raising attainment, building confidence, and supporting students who need additional help to succeed.
You'll work closely with teaching staff, the SEN team, and pastoral colleagues to deliver high quality intervention programmes that address gaps in learning and support academic progress.
What you'll be doing:
- Planning and delivering targeted small group interventions in Maths and English
- Supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4 to improve attainment and confidence
- Using assessment data to identify students in need of intervention and track progress over time
- Adapting teaching strategies to meet a range of learning needs, including SEND and disadvantaged students
- Working collaboratively with teachers to reinforce classroom learning
- Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the impact of interventions
- Maintaining positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers where appropriate
You need:
- Experience working with secondary aged students, particularly in Maths and/or English
- Good standard of education, including strong literacy and numeracy skills
- Experience delivering interventions or small group teaching (desirable)
- Understanding of barriers to learning and strategies to overcome them
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Patient, supportive, and resilient approach
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
