About the Role
- Teaching Personnel are seeking an experienced and dedicated SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator) to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Basingstoke on an interim basis.
- This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and organised SEND professional to make a positive impact on a school community that supports pupils aged 11–16 with additional needs, including SEMH and associated learning difficulties.
- As the school’s SENDCo, you will play a pivotal role in leading SEND provision, supporting staff with differentiation and strategies for inclusion, and ensuring the school meets statutory requirements under the SEND Code of Practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the SEND provision across the school, ensuring high standards of inclusion and support.
- Coordinate the identification, assessment, and support of pupils with additional needs.
- Lead the development and implementation of EHCPs and personalised learning plans.
- Work closely with SLT, teachers, support staff, external agencies, and parents/carers.
- Provide training and guidance to staff to promote best practice in supporting pupils with SEMH and SEND needs.
- Ensure all statutory documentation and records are accurate and up to date.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience in a SENDCo or inclusion leadership role.
- NASENCo qualification (or working towards it).
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH and complex needs.
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding frameworks.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
