Job description

Teaching Personnel are looking to speak to a number of Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA) in the Tavistock area to support with the current catch up requirements in school. As a result of the lock down a significant number of students find themselves falling behind and I need of much need catch up support in core subjects such as Phonics, Maths and English.

The government have allocated each primary school with additional funds to support students who need it the most. We have seen a growth in demand for additional HLTAs to work with small intervention groups to narrow the gaps and accelerate progress.

We are looking for individuals who have experience in all key stages and year groups, however at present we have a keen interest in talking to candidates who have worked in Early years, year 5 and 6 as these year groups seem to be following a trend for need additional support at present.

We currently have a number of full time opportunities in Tavistock and the surrounding areas for the right individual.

The right HLTA for Teaching Personnel would:

  • Have experience working with students in upper KS2 or supporting Early Years
  • Be comfortable leading small group sessions or full class lessons from pre-planned work
  • Good overall organisational skills and the ability to work from their own initiative
  • The relevant qualifications/CPD to support students as a HLTA
