Overview:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic History Teacher for a full-time position at an Ofsted Good, diverse secondary school in Stechford, renowned for its excellent reputation. This role begins in September and 2 terms up until April 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Planning and Delivery: Develop and deliver engaging and comprehensive History lessons that align with the national curriculum and the school’s educational objectives. Utilize a variety of teaching methods to inspire students and facilitate their understanding of historical events and contexts.
  • Student Assessment: Regularly assess students’ progress and understanding in History, providing constructive feedback and tailored support to help them achieve their academic goals.
  • Classroom Management: Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation and collaborative learning. Implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain a conducive learning atmosphere.
  • Resource Development: Employ a range of teaching materials and resources to enhance the learning experience, making lessons interactive and relevant to students' lives.
  • Historical Enrichment Activities: Organize and lead field trips, historical reenactments, and other practical learning experiences to help students connect classroom knowledge with real-world historical contexts.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest developments in History education and pedagogy, integrating these into teaching practices to improve student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Collaborative Work: Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community to support students’ academic and personal development. Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the school’s continuous improvement.
  • Extracurricular Activities: Lead and participate in extracurricular activities, clubs, or events related to History, providing students with additional opportunities to explore and enjoy the subject.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in History or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching History at the secondary school level, with a strong understanding of curriculum requirements and assessment methods.
  • Excellent organizational and classroom management skills, capable of creating a stimulating and supportive learning environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a proactive approach to addressing challenges and supporting student needs.
  • Passion for History education and the ability to inspire students to explore and excel in the subject.
  • Ability to make complex historical concepts accessible and engaging, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the subject.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
