Job description

A well-regarded and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Bournemouth is seeking to appoint an inspiring and knowledgeable History Teacher to join their department from April 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to become part of a supportive and forward-thinking Humanities team. The school is committed to delivering a rich and engaging History curriculum that encourages curiosity, critical thinking and a deep understanding of the world, past and present.

The Role:

  • Teaching History across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 experience desirable but not essential).

  • Planning and delivering engaging, high-quality lessons that challenge and inspire students.

  • Assessing, monitoring and supporting student progress to ensure strong outcomes.

  • Contributing to curriculum development within the Humanities department.

  • Supporting the wider life of the school through enrichment opportunities and extracurricular activities.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent recognised teaching qualification).

  • Have strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for History.

  • Be committed to high standards of teaching, learning and behaviour.

  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills.

  • Be reflective, proactive and keen to contribute to a collaborative team environment.

Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are welcome to apply, and experienced teachers seeking a new challenge are equally encouraged.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
