Location: Stockport
Pay: £100 – £120 per day (depending on experience)


About the Role

Teaching Personnel are seeking an experienced and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work across secondary schools in the Stockport area, supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is an excellent opportunity for a confident HLTA looking to take on greater responsibility and play a key role in supporting teaching and learning.

As an HLTA, you will work closely with class teachers, the SENCo, and wider pastoral teams to plan and deliver targeted interventions, provide high-quality in-class support, and contribute to the overall development and progress of students with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.


Key Responsibilities

• Deliver planned learning activities and interventions under teacher guidance.
• Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEN.
• Support whole-class learning and occasionally lead lessons in the teacher’s absence.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and well-being.
• Assist with the assessment and monitoring of student progress and outcomes.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, SENCOs, and external professionals.


Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant with SEN pupils (HLTA qualification or equivalent experience preferred).
• Strong understanding of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and SEMH needs.
• Confidence in leading learning activities and supporting lesson delivery.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Calm, patient, and resilient approach to challenging situations.
• GCSE-level education (including English and Maths).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
