Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Leadership Opportunity
Location: Various locations in Derby (DE23, DE24, DE22)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time | Term-Time Only | Temp-to-Perm Options Available
Salary: £95-£120 per day (Dependent on Experience and Qualifications)

We are currently recruiting for a dynamic and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to take on a leadership-focused support role within a thriving and inclusive [Primary/Secondary/SEN] school in the [insert area] area. This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident HLTA who thrives on responsibility and wants to play a key role in the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning.
The Role:
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will:

Deliver planned lessons across a variety of subjects in the absence of the class teacher

Support and guide other TAs across the school setting
-
Lead small group interventions and 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs
-
Assist in developing tailored learning resources and strategies
-
Support with planning and assessment where required
-
Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
-
HLTA status or equivalent qualification
-
Previous experience delivering lessons or covering classes
-
Excellent communication and organisational skills
-
A proactive and confident approach to classroom management
-
A genuine passion for supporting pupil progress and inclusion
-
Experience working with children with SEN (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
