Teaching Personel are working on behalf of a mainstream primary school in Oldham (OL9) looking to appoint a teaching assistant to support a young child with a hearing impairment to start in September to support the child’s additional needs.
- Full time position Mon - Fri 8:30am - 4:00pm
- Pay from £77-£85 per day (no umbrella companies)

The Role
Working within the dedicated and supportive Year 6 team, the successful candidate will work under the direction of the class teacher to support the learning of a young, Year 6 child to meet the targets as outlined in his EHCP. The role will involve supporting the child to access the KS2 curriculum as they are working below the Year 6 expectations. The child will have a differentiated curriculum whereby you wil be expected to scaffold and support his learning to boost his attainment and close the gaps with his peers.
The role will involve close support on a 1:1 level using a microphone hearing device to enable the child to communicate effectively with yourself. The child is a well-behaved and hardworking young student who puts significant effort into their work.
The Teaching Assistant
The required individual will be resilient and empathetic in their approach, they will be able to be patient to the needs of the pupil as they can need additional time with reading and writing work. Being able to quickly develop strong relationships both with the child and with other staff will be essential in making a success of this role.
Previous experience supporting pupils with special educational needs is ideal and previous opportunity to use basic sign language. The school are looking for any individual who has experience in working in a one-to-one setting such as mainstream schools, specialist schools, working in the community setting as a support worker, care worker or youth worker. Candidates who have child residential care experience will similarly flourish in the role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
