Headteacher – SEN School (Wirral)

Permanent | Full Time | Starting ASAP

Teaching Personnel Liverpool are supporting a specialist SEN school on the Wirral to appoint an inspiring and forward‑thinking Headteacher on a permanent basis.

We’re looking for a dynamic leader with a strong background in SEN/SEND who can drive whole‑school improvement, empower staff, and create an environment where every pupil thrives. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced SEN Headteacher, or a talented Assistant/Deputy Head ready for the next step in their leadership journey.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven senior leadership experience in an SEN, SEMH, AP or specialist setting
  • Strong understanding of SEND provision, EHCP processes, and inclusive curriculum design
  • Strategic thinker who can lead school improvement, raise standards, and inspire a positive school culture
  • Skilled in staff development, coaching, and building high-performing teams
  • Confident working with parents, governors, LA partners and external agencies
  • A passionate advocate for children with additional needs
  • QTS essential; NPQH desirable

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall vision, strategy and daily running of the school
  • Ensure high-quality, inclusive teaching and learning for pupils with a range of needs
  • Oversee safeguarding, behaviour culture and pupil wellbeing
  • Drive continuous school improvement and quality assurance
  • Manage staffing, CPD, budgets and operational planning
  • Strengthen partnerships with families, professionals and the wider community

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
