Head of English –Shaftesbury

Full-Time | Start Date: Jan 2026

A secondary school in Shaftesbury is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head of English to lead their provision and support students for whom English is not their first language. This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead and manage the English department, ensuring high-quality teaching and support for students across the school
  • Develop strategies to help students access the curriculum and achieve their full potential
  • Support and train staff in delivering inclusive teaching practices
  • Monitor student progress and adapt provision to meet individual needs
  • Work closely with families, external agencies, and the wider school community to ensure effective communication and support
