In the past two months Teaching Personnel have had an influx of vacancies for graduates with the ability to work as teaching assistants. Our future teachers programme is a perfect opportunity for you to work as a teaching assistant from September and then progress onto teacher training the following academic year. This will enable you to gain paid experience working in your chosen school setting and undertake various specialist training regularly ready for a PGCE course the following year. Graduates interested in working as a teaching assistant will need to be/have;
- The desire to become a qualified teacher in the future
- Commitment to working full time as a teaching assistant for the full academic year
- Knowledge of the SEN education sector
- Have experience in the SEN sector
- Previous experience working with children in a school or similar capacity
Working as a graduate teaching assistant is excellent paid experience for those wanting to become teachers. Teaching Personnel work with schools across Greater Manchester (and surrounding areas) and have a number of vacancies in SEN schools, both primary and secondary. Ideally you will be looking for work for the full academic year, however if you have other commitments and want to gain experience on a supply basis, please still apply. Working as a teaching assistant will require you to take direction from teachers and other staff members, provide in class support during lessons, lead activities for small groups and also support children on an individual 1:1 basis, you may also (in time) be asked to lead lessons in the absence of teaching staff. Graduates will be given full support to be prepared for teacher training, Teaching Personnel have a partnership with a national teaching school in Salford who will hold several courses throughout the academic year, including; effective behaviour management, Mindfulness, and a SEN Carousel.
