Graduate Teaching Assistant

Start Date: September 2025
Location: Darlington
Contract: Full-Time (Temp to Perm)
Salary: £90–£100 per day (DOE)

Teaching Personnel is delighted to be recruiting dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistants to join supportive and welcoming schools across Darlington.

This role is the perfect stepping stone for aspiring teachers, educational psychologists, or anyone passionate about helping students succeed.


Your Responsibilities

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment.

  • Support students through both small-group work and personalised 1:1 sessions.

  • Work closely with teaching staff to deliver targeted academic and pastoral support.

  • Apply and develop your subject knowledge while gaining first-hand teaching experience.

  • Help maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement in the classroom.


What We’re Looking For

  • A degree (education-related subjects welcome, but all disciplines considered).

  • Any experience working with children or young people—volunteering, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, etc. (desirable but not essential).

  • A valid DBS check or willingness to apply for one.

  • Excellent communication skills and a genuine desire to support young learners.

  • A proactive, collaborative attitude with the ability to build positive relationships.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
