Aspiring secondary teachers of the future looking for experience and a salaried route in to the teaching profession - this could be the perfect opportunity for you starting in September 2019.

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a multi-school network in Hastings which is lead by a National Teaching School to recruit for a number of graduate teaching assistants. This is more than just a position, working for one year as a graduate TA before progressing on to a years teacher training programme in 2019 to become a qualified teacher (in your subject area) by the summer of 2020. This designated future teacher's programme combines paid work and gaining experience within a school setting, designed by TP and in partnership with our schools to nurture teachers and offer an alternative route in to teaching. We have opportunities within English, Maths and Science, plus second tier subjects (Humanities, Computing/ICT/Computer Science, Languages) in schools across Hastings. Further information below;

  • Graduate teaching assistant, one year post from September 2019
  • Second year (2019-2020) teacher training year, SCITT programme
  • Fully supported by your designated school and the National Teaching School
  • Salaried over 2 years and your first teaching opportunity at the end of the course
  • Opportunities in the Hastings, Bexhill and St Leonards areas

Whether you have gained experience during your studies (or post graduation) within a classroom or with children, or have no experience to date, we welcome your application. This is an excellent programme designed by a National Teaching school, working as a graduate teaching assistant will give you first hand paid experience within a secondary school to fully understand the teaching profession and expectations each day. During your second year you will be fully supported through your teacher training and regularly meet with peers, a mentor to asses your progress against the teaching competencies and requirements to pass the course and become a newly qualified teacher.
