Graduate Science Teaching Assistant

Job description

A school in Stockport is seeking a Graduate Science Teaching Assistant, to support students within the Science Department.

This role is open to the following:

  • Science Graduates (Biology/Chemistry/Physics or a related subject
  • Science Specialists with experience (tutoring/mentoring)

The role will involve offering support to students, often on a 1:1 or small group basis. The required applicant will need to be able to enforce behaviour management policies, as well as support on a pastoral basis when required.

Working in partnership with Science teaching staff will allow the applicant the opportunity to:

  • Develop resources for pupils to engage with.
  • Shadow staff gaining knowledge into teaching the subject to large group sizes.
  • Act as a cover supervisor when necessary, developing classroom management.
  • Working with students with SEN and a range of differing health needs.

The applicant will ideally have strong knowledge of UK National Curriculum across all 3 Science Subjects. Prior experience working within SEN is highly desirable.

Located in Stockport, the role is a short distance from Manchester city centre.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
