Graduate Cover Supervisor – Durham/Sunderland

Perfect for graduates considering teaching, ASAP start, £95 to £115 per day.

Just graduated and thinking about a career in teaching but not quite ready to commit to a PGCE? Teaching Personnel is recruiting Graduate Cover Supervisors for secondary schools across Durham and Sunderland. This is the ideal role to test the waters, gain genuine classroom experience, and figure out if teaching is right for you.

As a Cover Supervisor, you'll deliver pre prepared lessons when teachers are absent, manage classroom behaviour, and keep students engaged. No teaching qualification required. You'll get hands on experience leading classrooms, building confidence, and understanding what teaching actually involves before making long term career decisions.

What you'll be doing:

  • Delivering pre prepared lessons across different subjects at KS3 and KS4
  • Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining positive learning environments
  • Ensuring students stay focused and complete their work
  • Taking registers and following school procedures
  • Providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Gaining valuable classroom experience

You need:

  • A degree in any subject
  • Confidence and strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage groups of young people
  • Patience, adaptability, and resilience
  • Genuine interest in working with secondary students
  • Willingness to work across different schools and subjects
