Teaching Personnel are looking to appoint a recently qualified or experienced Teacher of German on behalf of an Ofsted graded “good” secondary school in Accrington, Lancashire.
Start date: 4th December 2023
Contract length: Full-time, maternity cover. Expected end date October 2023
Pupils at this school study both French and German at KS3, then have the option to continue with one or the other at GCSE level. You will be responsible for ensuring the effective teaching and learning of students, instilling in them a love for learning and an appreciation of the world in which they live.
The school is looking for an exceptional teacher who can create a supportive, encouraging, and safe learning environment for all pupils of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
Your main responsibilities in respect to teaching and learning:
- Develop a classroom environment and teaching practice which secures effective learning across the breadth of the National Curriculum
- Support the identification of, and provision for pupils with additional educational needs
- Regularly monitor the progress of pupils within their class which is then reflected in teaching plans
- Evaluate the effectiveness of their teaching and learning by work analysis and use these analyses to guide future improvement
- Ensure setting of realistic and challenging expectations for pupils in their class
- Liaise effectively with staff to ensure the successful transition of pupils through the school
It is vital the successful candidate will promote equal opportunities within the school and seek to ensure the implementation of the school’s equal opportunities policy. You may also be required to take on any additional responsibilities (intervention/homework club) which might, from time to time, be determined by the Headteacher or your line manager.
It is desirable, but not essential that the successful candidate can teach French as well as German.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
