Geography Teaching Assistant- Wigan
Teaching Personnel have been approached by one of our partner schools in the Wigan area to source the support of a Geography Teaching Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about Geography and helping others to learn. This role is also particularly suited to any aspiring Geography teachers who wish to gain more school based experience prior to September:
- Supporting pupils with their Geography lessons
- Working 1-to-1 and with small groups of pupils
- Required to start after Easter
- School located in central Wigan
As a result of the mock exams highlighting small groups of pupils who need additional support, the Assistant Head teacher of our popular partner school in Wigan would like to source the support of a Geography Teaching Assistant. This to provide 1-to-1 and small group interventions so that the pupils are on course achieve their target grades. Under the leadership of the Head of Humanities, you will be expected to support identified pupils their Geography studies. This will consist of working through past examination papers and helping them where they are currently up to in the curriculum.
The school are ideally seeking a Geography graduate or someone who has previous experience of supporting pupils in a similar capacity. You must be passionate about helping others to achieve their potential and be able to deal with apathy to learning effectively.
The school is located close to Wigan town centre offering excellent accessibility for those on public transport as it is a short walk away from the two train stations in Wigan. It is only a short drive away from the surrounding areas of Standish, Hindley and Aspull.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
