Job description

Geography Teacher – South Manchester Maternity Cover (1 Year)

Teaching Personnel are looking for a Geography teacher to fulfil a full time, fixed term (1 year) maternity cover role starting in January 2026, based in a reputable southern Manchester secondary school.


 Location
: Levenshulme / Longsight / Burnage / Didsbury
 Start Date: January 2026
 Contract: Full-Time, Fixed-Term (Maternity Cover)
 Pay: Dependent upon the teacher’s pay scale and experience: MPS1 – UPS3 (£32,916 -  £51,047 per annum equivalent)

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering engaging and high-quality Geography lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Strong behaviour management of all classes, ensuring high standards of conduct and discipline
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Commitment to student progress and wellbeing

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Holds QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent
  • Has experience teaching Geography at secondary level
  • Is enthusiastic, creative, and committed to raising achievement
  • Is confident in planning and delivering differentiated lessons

The school is located in the south Manchester area making it easily accessible from all surrounding areas of Greater Manchester. Educators living in central Manchester will find it highly accessible via public transport.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
