General Teaching Assistant

Location: Garston, Liverpool (L19)
Contract: Full-time / Part-time (dependent on school requirements)
Start date: Immediate or upcoming term

Pay Rate: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour (depending on experience)

The Role – General Teaching Assistant

As a General Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across EYFS, KS1, or KS2 depending on school needs. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing in-class support alongside the class teacher.
  • Delivering small-group interventions to help pupils reach their learning targets.
  • Supporting children with a range of needs, including SEND.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and fostering a supportive learning environment.
  • Assisting with classroom preparation, resources, and general day-to-day tasks.

Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience working with children (classroom, youth work, sports coaching, childcare, or similar).
  • Is patient, enthusiastic, and committed to helping pupils succeed.
  • Can build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Is reliable, proactive, and adaptable to the needs of the school day.
  • Holds or is willing to obtain enhanced Child Workforce DBS (on the update service or new application).
