Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a number of schools across Newcastle and Northumberland, who are in high demand of Cover Supervisors and Support Assistants to work in the new academic year. If you are looking to pursue a career in teaching, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

A number of the schools we are working with are looking to bring on full-time, permanent members of staff with an outlook to continuing the placement onto the following academic year as a trainee teacher (PGCE). Initially you may be asked to do some day-to-day cover however, we have a number of vacancies for September roles which you would be able to interview for immediately.

Initially, commencing from September you will be working as a Cover Supervisor within multiple departments within the School. You will be prioritised for your specialist subjects however, will be asked to cover other subjects as well. Behaviour within the schools is good and Ofsted have rated the schools as 'Good' to 'Outstanding'.

You can also work as a 1:1 teaching assistant on occasion with pupils both in and outside of lessons. There is potential for full-time support assistant roles should this be something you prioritise over cover supervision.

The Role:

  • Covering pre-planned lessons in the absence of teachers
  • Classroom behaviour management - ensuring all pupils are on task
  • Permanent role for the right person
  • Excellent opportunity to gain experience within schools despite not having a teaching qualification
  • 1:1 teaching assistant for pupils with behavioural disorders when required

Benefits for yourself:

  • Free access to courses contributing to your Continued Professional Development (CPD)
  • Competitive rates of pay - opportunity to earn between £280-350 per week
  • For full-time members of staff, the school are willing to pay more than the usual daily rate
  • Highly desirable experience in a rewarding school environment with supportive staff
  • Teacher of the month awards

If you would like further information regarding the role or wish to apply, please contact Stuart Hawkins at Teaching Personnel on 0191 2235074.
