Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a large RC secondary school in central Manchester to recruit for a team of History and Geography graduates to join their Future Teachers Programme in September 2019 on a full-time basis.

If you are an aspiring secondary History or Geography teacher wishing to gain further invaluable school based experience before completing a teacher training programme, this position is perfect for you.

What is the Future Teachers Programme?

The Future Teachers Programme was created by Teaching Personnel and partner schools to provide graduates with one year of paid experience prior to gaining support onto a teacher training programme for September 2020 within our partner secondary school.

Your role as a Future Teacher in History or Geography

As a Future Teacher within History or Geography, you will have the opportunity to work with identified groups of students delivering pre-planned intervention sessions and monitoring progress. You will also work alongside class teachers to plan History and Geography sessions, cover lessons and receive training on what it takes to become an outstanding teacher of the future.

Are you eligible?

To be accepted onto the Future Teachers Programme, you must have a degree in History, Geography, or similar, or be coming to the end of your final year. It is preferred if you have previous experience working with children and young people, however this is not necessary and full training will be provided. You must also have two obtainable references from most recent employment/University and be able to apply for a Child Workforce Enhanced DBS Certificate.

Our partner secondary school is situated near to the centre of Manchester and is commutable from the centre via public transport. For drivers, the school can be accessed via the M60 motorway and is near to Oldham and Blackley (North Manchester). Training is often based within a nearby secondary school, so it is desirable if you have your own transport.

How to apply

To apply for this exciting History or Geography Future Teachers opportunity, please submit a full CV outlining all experiences to Nicola Pollitt via the link provided below. Further information can be obtained by calling the number below. Interviews are due to be held in the coming weeks, so if interested - please apply with urgency.
