Shape Futures in Northumberland – Become a 1:1 Functional Skills Tutor

 Location: Northumberland (NE24 and surrounding areas)
 Pay: £25–£30 per hour
 Hours: Flexible daytime hours (8:00am–4:00pm, term time)

Do you enjoy delivering personalised 1:1 tuition and making a real difference?

TP Tutors is actively recruiting dedicated and enthusiastic Functional Skills Tutors to support learners across Northumberland. You’ll work on a 1:1 basis, delivering tailored tuition in learners’ homes or local libraries.

About the Role

As a 1:1 Functional Skills Tutor, you will:

  • Deliver Functional Skills English and/or Maths lessons
  • Build confidence and independence through personalised learning
  • Plan & Adapt teaching methods to suit individual needs and learning styles
  • Create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment
  • Provide feedback on learner progress where required

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills English and/or Maths
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding principles
  • Patient, reliable, and encouraging approach
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable but not essential
  • A current Enhanced DBS (on Update Service) or willingness to obtain one
  • Committed to supporting learner progress
