Job description

Functional Skills Tutor – NE40, Northumberland

Are you passionate about helping young people achieve their potential? We are looking for a motivated and engaging Functional Skills Tutor to provide rewarding in-person 1:1 tuition to students in the NE40 area of Northumberland.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference by supporting learners with their confidence, skills, and academic progress in a personalised learning environment.

Location:

NE40, Northumberland

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday – School Hours

The Role:

  • Deliver engaging and supportive 1:1 Functional Skills tuition sessions
  • Tailor lessons to meet individual learning needs and abilities
  • Help students build confidence in English and/or Maths
  • Track progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Create a positive, encouraging, and safe learning environment

✅ What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience tutoring or teaching Functional Skills, English, or Maths
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A patient, adaptable, and enthusiastic approach
  • Passion for supporting students to succeed
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
