Shape Futures in Ilkeston (DE7) – Become a 1:1 Functional Skills Tutor

Location: Ilkeston, Derbyshire (DE7 and surrounding areas)
Pay: £25–£30 per hour
Hours: Flexible daytime hours (8:00am–4:00pm, term time)

Are you passionate about helping learners build confidence in Functional Skills English and/or Maths?
Do you enjoy delivering personalised 1:1 tuition and making a real difference?

TP Tutors is currently recruiting dedicated Functional Skills Tutors to support learners across Ilkeston (DE7). Tuition is delivered on a 1:1 basis in learners’ homes or local community settings.


What We Offer

  • £25–£30 per hour (dependent on experience)

  • Flexible, term-time hours

  • Local placements in DE7 and nearby areas

  • Ongoing support from a dedicated tuition consultant

  • A truly rewarding role


The Role

  • Deliver 1:1 Functional Skills English and/or Maths sessions

  • Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual learner needs

  • Build confidence and encourage independent learning

  • Provide progress feedback where required


Requirements

  • Experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills English and/or Maths

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding

  • Patient, reliable, and adaptable approach

  • QTS desirable but not essential

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
