Job description

Functional Skills Tutor – Cramlington (NE23)

TP Tutors is looking for a committed and encouraging Functional Skills Tutor to support learners in Cramlington (NE23) who need tailored help with English and Maths at Functional Skills level.

You’ll be working with young people who benefit from structured, one-to-one sessions delivered at their own pace. Many learners simply need someone who can rebuild confidence, break learning into manageable steps, and help them gain the qualifications they need for their next stage.

This is a face-to-face role, usually delivered in the learner’s home or a local agreed venue.

Your role will include:

  • Delivering personalised Functional Skills English and/or Maths sessions

  • Supporting learners who may have disengaged from mainstream education

  • Building confidence, motivation and routine

  • Tracking progress and providing feedback

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience teaching Functional Skills or equivalent

  • Can adapt teaching to different needs and abilities

  • Brings patience, consistency and professional reliability

  • Holds (or is willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS

What you’ll receive:

  • Hourly rate of £25–£30 (PAYE)

  • Flexible working pattern

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
