Functional Skills Tutor – Help Learners Build Confidence and Essential Skills

Are you passionate about helping learners achieve their full potential? TP Tutors is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Functional Skills Tutor to deliver high-quality one-to-one tuition to learners in the Stockton-on-Tees (DL2 1AX) area.

This rewarding role involves supporting learners in Functional Skills English and/or Maths, helping them develop practical literacy and numeracy skills, improve their confidence, and work towards recognised qualifications. The role offers flexible, part-time hours during weekdays, making it ideal for qualified teachers, experienced tutors, or education professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging one-to-one Functional Skills tuition in English and/or Maths.

  • Plan and tailor lessons to meet each learner's individual needs and learning goals.

  • Support learners in developing practical literacy and numeracy skills for everyday life and employment.

  • Prepare students for Functional Skills assessments and qualifications.

  • Monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies to maximise learner outcomes.

  • Create a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills, GCSE English and/or Maths, or equivalent.

  • Strong subject knowledge in English and/or Maths.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A patient, adaptable, and learner-focused approach.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

  • Right to work in the UK.
