Job Title: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: East Midlands, Derbyshire, Long Eaton
Salary: £80 - £100 Per day
Job Duties:
- Provide one-on-one support to students with special educational needs (SEN) in a classroom setting
- Assist students with their individual learning goals and educational activities
- Support the class teacher in implementing lesson plans and adapting materials to meet the needs of students with SEN
- Help students with personal care tasks, such as toileting and feeding, if required
- Monitor and record students' progress, behaviours, and achievements
- Collaborate with the class teacher, SEN coordinator, and other professionals to develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs)
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to students, promoting their overall well-being and positive behaviour
- Assist in managing students' behaviour using appropriate strategies and techniques
- Ensure the safety and welfare of students at all times
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
- Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting students with SEN
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- Possess a relevant teaching assistant qualification or willing to work towards one
- Experience in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) for students with SEN
- Familiarity with different learning strategies and approaches for students with SEN
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies related to special educational needs
- Good organisational and administrative skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Higher education qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Psychology, Special Education)
- Additional training or certifications in specific areas of SEN support (e.g., Autism, Dyslexia, Speech and Language difficulties)
Working Conditions:
- Work in a classroom or educational setting
- May involve working with students with challenging behaviours
- May require physical assistance with students' personal care tasks
- Full-time hours, typically following the school calendar
- Temporary position with the possibility of extension

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
