Full time second in command Geography teacher required from January on a permanent basis - Good School

The academy is looking for a qualified and experienced teacher of Geography to teach in their successful secondary school which is part of the Academies Enterprise Trust. They are looking for a qualified or unqualified teacher of Geography to join them in the new academic year who is passionate and inspirational in their teaching.

The ideal candidate will be one with experience teaching geography in a successful school or academy in recent years, who is looking to take their next step towards head of department under the guidance of a long standing and experienced Head of Department.

The academy is looking for someone who has:

  • Qualified teacher status and a relevant degree
  • A strong track record as an outstanding teacher of geography
  • A passion for geography which is evident in their day to day classroom practice
  • The ability to work in collaboration with other members of staff to develop and manage projects
  • Exceptional personal organisation and time management skills
  • The ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
  • The ability to guide students’ academic, personal and professional development, as a tutor, in accordance with the academy’s guidelines and procedures
  • An understanding of the key national and educational policies and issues
  • The ability to inspire high achievement in young people from all backgrounds
  • Presence, dynamism, good sense of humour and approachability
  • An excellent record of attendance and punctuality

The academy itself is has 1200 pupils on roll leading to a large humanities department, you will be integrated and involved in this department during your time at the school with the full support and mentoring of the department lead. The staff in the humanities faculty are very interested in the benefits surrounding a new member of staff whether very experienced or new to the profession as it will allow them to develop and progress their own skills.

This role is suitable for NQTs, and you will receive full support and mentoring during your NQT year.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.This will be a temporary position and may go permanent at a later date.
