With schools now having closed due to COVID-19, the recruitment drive for the new academic year has begun. Given these unprecendented and uncertain times, teachers across the subjects are urged to register with Teaching Personnel, in order to guarantee:

A school in Manchester is looking for a Female PE teacher to join the teaching staff, on a temporary basis.

It is essential that the candidate will:

  • Have a genuine passion for sport, health and fitness.
  • Be able to instil a culture at the school, that actively promotes the importance of maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge with regards to the delivery of sessions across a wide range of sports. 

The required applicant will:

  • Be educated to degree level.
  • Hold QTS (or an equivalent qualification)
  • Have a proven track record in the delivery of PE lessons across KS3 and KS4.

It is crucial that the individual is able to effectively deliver the school’s curriculum, whilst being able to independently implement their own strategies and methods to allow students to thrive within the subject. It is vital that the candidate is able to consistently manage behaviour expectations, as well as working in line with recommendations made by Ofsted.

Furthermore:

  • The given applicant will be able to work well within a team environment, and will be motivated and enthusiastic within their approach.
  • The required candidate will try and instil a culture that is driven by the benefits of health, exercise and fitness.
  • Being able to display resilience and patience within this role is crucial – naturally, not all students will be as engaged as some. It is also of high importance that the required applicant is able to effectively differentiate learning for those with SEN, as well as for those whose primary language is not English.
  • A unique and versatile approach is essential in being able to develop both the learning of students, as well as overall teaching method progression.

This position will begin once schools have recommenced for the new year, set for a September 2020 start.

Other key aspects of the role include:

  • Competence in the delivery lessons across a wide range of Sports, as well as managing several teams, potentially competing against other schools.
  • Monitoring attendance, as well as being attentive in ensuring that students have the correct equipment needed to participate in a PE session.
  • Being able to reinforce learning, with regards to technical improvements as well as tactical development within specific sports.
  • Being able to create a fun and positive working environment for children, that allows for students to gain enjoyment from the lesson.
  • Engaging with students across a wide range of ages, abilities and backgrounds.
  • Pay between GBP24,373 and GBP40,490 dependant on prior experience.

The school is located in Manchester, just a short distance away from Manchester city centre. The M60 motorway is within close proximity of the school itself, as well as public transport links.
