1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (EYFS) – Darlington

Are you an experienced and nurturing Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs in the Early Years?

We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil within an EYFS setting at a welcoming primary school in Darlington. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact during a child's crucial early years of development, helping them build confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

The Role

Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will provide tailored one-to-one support for a child with additional needs, adapting activities and implementing strategies that encourage engagement, communication, and positive progress.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day.
• Supporting the child's communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and learning.
• Delivering activities tailored to the EYFS curriculum and the child's individual needs.
• Using positive behaviour management strategies and promoting independence.
• Monitoring progress and contributing to observations and individual support plans.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for the child.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience supporting children with SEN, ideally within an EYFS or primary school setting.
• Has knowledge of needs such as Autism (ASC), speech and language difficulties, ADHD, or developmental delay.
• Is patient, compassionate, and able to build strong, trusting relationships.
• Can adapt their approach to meet individual learning and behavioural needs.
• Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
• Has an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
