EYFS Teaching Assistant – Crook
We are looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive early years team in Crook. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a nurturing environment, supporting children in both our 2-year-old provision and pre-school as they begin their learning journey.
About the Role
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting high-quality teaching and learning. You will work closely with the class teacher to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where all children can thrive. The role will involve supporting children’s learning through play, helping to deliver planned activities, and contributing to the day-to-day running of the setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of the EYFS curriculum through play-based learning
- Assist in planning and setting up engaging activities
- Observe and contribute to assessments of children’s progress
- Support children’s communication, social, and emotional development
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating learning environment
- Work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships with parents and carers
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Level 3 qualification in Early Years / Childcare (e.g. CACHE Level 3 Diploma or equivalent)
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above
- Experience working with children in an EYFS setting (2-year-olds and/or pre-school desirable)
- Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS framework
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Desirable
- Paediatric First Aid qualification (or willingness to train)
- Experience supporting children with additional needs (SEND)
- Strong knowledge of early language development strategies
