KS2 SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School | Darlington Full-Time
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Darlington is seeking a dedicated KS2 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional learning needs. Position: KS2 SEN Teaching Assistant
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Start Date: ASAP / September start considered
Salary: £95–£105 per day (dependent on experience)
About the Role
You will be working primarily within Key Stage 2, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social/emotional difficulties. Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis or within small intervention groups, working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised learning strategies.
The successful candidate will help pupils access the curriculum, develop confidence, and build independence within a supportive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities

Provide targeted SEN support to KS2 pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis

Assist in delivering EHCP and SEND support plans

Adapt learning activities to suit individual needs and abilities

Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals

Monitor pupil progress and contribute to review meetings where appropriate

Foster an inclusive, supportive and engaging learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Experience supporting children with SEND in a primary school setting
-
Strong understanding of KS2 curriculum expectations
-
Knowledge of strategies for supporting ASD, ADHD or SEMH needs
-
Patience, empathy and excellent communication skills
-
A proactive and flexible approach to classroom support

Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential
