Job description

Primary Teaching Assistants – January Start

Ad Hoc, Part-Time & Full-Time Roles

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a range of welcoming and supportive primary schools to recruit experienced Teaching Assistants for a January start.

We are offering a mix of roles, including ad hoc supply, part-time, and full-time placements, across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. These opportunities are ideal for Teaching Assistants seeking flexibility, variety, or longer-term stability.

A full UK driving licence is desirable due to school locations, but not essential.


The Role
As a Primary Teaching Assistant working through Teaching Personnel, you will:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons

  • Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning

  • Assist with classroom organisation and resource preparation

  • Support pupils with SEND, SEMH, or additional learning needs where required

  • Promote positive behaviour in line with school policies

  • Help create a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment


A Typical Day May Include

  • Supporting pupils during whole-class teaching

  • Delivering small group or 1:1 interventions

  • Assisting with literacy, numeracy, and foundation subject activities

  • Supporting behaviour management and emotional wellbeing

  • Helping with classroom setup and tidy-up

  • Providing feedback to the class teacher on pupil progress

  • Supporting pupils during breaktimes or transitions where required


Who We’re Looking For

  • Essential: recent and relevant UK-based experience in a primary school setting

  • Experience supporting EYFS, KS1 or KS2 pupils

  • A proactive, reliable, and adaptable approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
