Job description

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with multiple schools in Newcastle, Northumberland and the surrounding area who are seeking extra Exam Invigilators to help them during their busy winter and summer exam periods.

This role is essential to the smooth running of the examination process. In addition to ensuring correct exam procedures are followed, the successful applicants will be responsible for the setting out and collecting of exam papers and materials, admitting students to the exam hall/room, invigilating during the exams and collating the exam papers to be sent off to the Exam boards.

This role presents itself as a great opportunity to gain invaluable experience in secondary schools.

The roles and responsibilities of a school Exam Invigilator include:

• Distributing exam papers
• Maintaining exam conditions at all times
• Keeping time of exams
• Organising the exam hall
• Managing student queries

There may sometimes be an additional expectation to work as a scribe for students with additional learning requirements – therefore, a solid grasp of the English language is essential. It is also imperative that invigilators are able to project their voice adequately in order to ensure students are aware of the strict expectations within the exam hall. 

Teaching Personnel organise exam invigilation for schools across the North, particularly in the following areas:

  • Newcastle
  • Gateshead
  • Bedlington
  • Cramlington
  • Heddon
  • Seaton Delaval
  • Morpeth
  • Ponteland
  • Hexham
  • Amble
  • Alnwick
  • Jesmond
  • Gosforth
  • Wallsend

Pay for this type of work is usually £14 per hour - with full day or morning/afternoon sessions available.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
