Job description

English is at the heart of communication, creativity, and connection. From the stories we tell to the ideas we express, a strong grasp of the language is vital for personal and academic success. When taught with passion and expertise, English Language and Literature can be both enriching and transformative.

We're currently looking for qualified English Teachers and Tutors in Hull and the surrounding areas to support a growing number of tuition referrals from local authorities. As a tutor with TP Tutors, you'll provide one-on-one or small-group support to help students build confidence, improve their skills, and reach their full potential.

Pay: £25–£30 per hour
Location: In-person sessions, potentially in students’ homes or local libraries
Driving Licence: Desirable but not essential

What You’ll Need:

  • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and/or Literature

  • A passion for education and a commitment to supporting student growth

  • The ability to engage and motivate learners of varying abilities

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEND, SEMH, or other additional needs

  • UK teaching experience (desirable)

  • Up-to-date safeguarding knowledge

  • An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply—support provided)

  • Two professional references covering the past 24 months of employment
