Are you a qualified English teacher looking for a new role, new challenge or new environment?

Do you have a genuine passion for English and a desire to help young people develop their understanding of the subject?

If the answer to either of these questions is 'yes,' then we want to hear from you!

We're looking to appoint a successful English teacher to a role at one of our client secondary schools in Stockport. The position is a full time role starting at the beginning of January 2020. This English teacher role would be well suited to both experienced practitioners and newly qualified teachers.

Highlights of this English post:

  • Pay in line with your scale point MPS-UPS (£24,373 - 40,490)
  • Opportunity to contribute to extra-curricular pupil enrichment
  • Latest technological equipment and teaching aids at your disposal
  • Supportive senior leadership and vibrant English department
  • Regular CPD and career progression opportunities

The school caters to just over 1000 pupils and regularly enjoys both academic and sporting success. There is also a varied extra-curricular offering, including a strong performing arts programme, as well as excellent pastoral provisions and a well established culture of academic support. Teaching Personnel's client school provides personalised and tailored learning pathways for its pupils to ensure all pupils have the best possible chance to achieve their potential.

As an English teacher, you will deliver the core subject to pupils across the age and ability ranges. At KS3, pupils will study a range of topics including: A Christmas Carol, crime fiction, poetry, A Midsummer Night's Dream, poetry from other cultures and Lord of the Flies. Through study of these topics, pupils will develop skills in analysis, evaluation, appraisal, argumentation and persuasion, to name a few. At KS4, pupils follow the AQA curriculum and study: An Inspector Calls, power and conflict poetry, Shakespeare and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Preparing pupils for this important GCSE is supported by a generous timetable allocation and a highly involved department.

Located close to the A6 and the airport link road, this school is well serviced by public transport, so is easily accessible for both drivers and those who take public transport.

Criteria

  • Must be available for full time work from January 2020
  • Must have QTS in the UK - both experienced teachers and NQTs are welcome to apply
  • Must have suitable school-based references
  • Must be willing and able to apply for a fully enhanced DBS certificate
