English Teacher – Secondary School – Yeovil

Full-Time | Permanent | Start Date: April

A well‑established and forward‑looking secondary school in Yeovil, Somerset is looking to appoint a motivated and inspiring English Teacher to join their dynamic department. This role is ideal for an experienced practitioner or a confident ECT eager to begin their career in a nurturing, ambitious setting.


About the Role

As an English Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver engaging and well‑structured English lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Promote creativity, strong progress, and critical thinking through a rich curriculum
  • Use assessment effectively to monitor achievement and plan targeted support

Who We’re Looking For

This position would suit:

  • A qualified English Teacher with QTS, or an ECT completing training
  • Someone with a strong grasp of English Language and Literature
  • A teacher who is passionate about raising achievement and delivering engaging lessons
  • A reflective practitioner who values teamwork and high expectations
  • An individual who can build positive relationships and motivate learners of all abilities

Requirements

  • QTS (or working towards it)
  • Strong subject knowledge in English
  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
