English Teacher – Secondary School – Tameside
Full-time | September 2025 Start | £32,916–£51,047 per day
A reputable and ambitious secondary school in Tameside is seeking an inspiring English Teacher to join their team from September. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate English educator to teach across KS3 and KS4, helping students to develop a lifelong appreciation for literature, language, and communication.
Role Overview:
You will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging English lessons aligned to the national curriculum. The department is collaborative and well-resourced, offering opportunities for development and progression.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons to students aged 11–16.

Assess, track, and report on student progress in line with department policy.

Prepare students for GCSE exams and support coursework moderation (where applicable).

Contribute to the wider life of the school, including literacy initiatives and enrichment opportunities.

Uphold the school’s values of inclusion, excellence, and high expectations.
Candidate Requirements:
-
QTS or PGCE in English (applications from ECTs welcomed).

Experience teaching English Language and Literature to secondary school pupils.

Passion for storytelling, creative writing, and literary analysis.

Strong classroom management skills and high expectations of learners.
-
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
