English Teacher – Tameside Area – September 2025 Start

The School:

The English department plays a central role in the school’s drive for high academic standards and literacy engagement, with an established reading strategy, creative writing competitions, and links to local universities and theatres.
The Role:
You will deliver engaging, inclusive English Language and Literature lessons to students across KS3 and KS4. There is a strong team spirit within the department, with shared planning, high-quality resources, and experienced mentors in place.
Responsibilities:

Teaching KS3 and KS4 English Language and Literature (AQA exam board)

Creating challenging and inspiring lesson content based on curriculum standards and student needs

Marking, tracking, and moderating student work with consistency and clarity

Supporting extracurricular initiatives including debating clubs, theatre trips, and writing groups

Contributing to the department’s development of innovative schemes of work and assessment tools

Working closely with pastoral teams and SEN colleagues to provide holistic support to students
Candidate Profile:

QTS and a degree in English, English Literature, or a closely related subject

Experience of delivering GCSE outcomes in line with national standards
-
Evidence of consistently strong classroom management and student engagement
-
A passion for language, storytelling, and literacy development
-
Willingness to engage in the wider life of the school

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
