English Teacher – Tameside Area – September 2025 Start

Are you a dedicated and passionate English Teacherready to join a supportive and progressive secondary school in the Tameside area? This is a full-time, permanent role starting in September 2025, perfect for both experienced teachers and ambitious ECTs looking to thrive in a school with a strong commitment to literacy and achievement.

The School:
Set in a well-connected part of Tameside, the school is known for its inclusive culture and excellent pastoral care. The English department plays a central role in the school’s drive for high academic standards and literacy engagement, with an established reading strategy, creative writing competitions, and links to local universities and theatres.

The Role:
You will deliver engaging, inclusive English Language and Literature lessons to students across KS3 and KS4. There is a strong team spirit within the department, with shared planning, high-quality resources, and experienced mentors in place.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching KS3 and KS4 English Language and Literature (AQA exam board)

  • Creating challenging and inspiring lesson content based on curriculum standards and student needs

  • Marking, tracking, and moderating student work with consistency and clarity

  • Supporting extracurricular initiatives including debating clubs, theatre trips, and writing groups

  • Contributing to the department’s development of innovative schemes of work and assessment tools

  • Working closely with pastoral teams and SEN colleagues to provide holistic support to students

Candidate Profile:

  • QTS and a degree in English, English Literature, or a closely related subject

  • Experience of delivering GCSE outcomes in line with national standards

  • Evidence of consistently strong classroom management and student engagement

  • A passion for language, storytelling, and literacy development

  • Willingness to engage in the wider life of the school

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
