English Teacher – Secondary School – Stockport
A high-achieving secondary school in Stockport is seeking an inspiring and dedicated English Teacher to join their vibrant English department. About the Role:
You will be responsible for delivering engaging and well-structured English Language and Literature lessons to students in KS3 and KS4. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering a love of reading and writing, confident in supporting students of varying abilities, and committed to raising achievement across the board.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and deliver dynamic English lessons in line with the national curriculum and GCSE exam specifications

Use varied teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEN, EAL, or low prior attainment

Regularly assess student work, provide clear feedback, and track progress using school systems
-
Prepare students thoroughly for internal and external assessments, including GCSEs
-
Encourage a positive and inclusive classroom culture that motivates students to succeed and develop a genuine interest in English
-
Contribute to the wider English department by sharing best practice, collaborating on schemes of work, and taking part in moderation or CPD activities

Offer support with extracurricular activities such as debating clubs, creative writing workshops, or school productions (if desired)
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
-
QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or an equivalent teaching qualification (strong ECTs welcome to apply)

Excellent subject knowledge in English Language and Literature, including familiarity with AQA or Edexcel exam boards

A student-centred approach, with the ability to differentiate and scaffold learning appropriately
-
Strong behaviour management and classroom leadership skills
-
A commitment to professional development and a collaborative team ethos

Strong literacy and communication skills, with the ability to inspire confidence in both students and colleagues

Contract Details:

Full-time position, Monday to Friday, term-time only

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
