Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of English to join a welcoming and ambitious secondary school community in Portsmouth. The successful candidate will deliver an engaging, inclusive and challenging English curriculum that motivates learners, builds self-belief and nurtures creativity and independent thought.

This is an opportunity to make a real impact by helping students discover their voice through language and equipping them with the skills they need for success both in school and beyond. English teaching here goes beyond exam outcomes; it is about developing curiosity, imagination and resilience, while supporting every learner to achieve their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.

The ideal candidate will hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), have strong subject knowledge and demonstrate a clear commitment to high-quality teaching and learning, with a genuine passion for English and for working with young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
