English Teacher – Manchester (September 2025 Start)

We are currently supporting a vibrant and inclusive secondary school in central Manchester that is seeking an ambitious and passionate English Teacher to join their English department from September 2025. This is a full-time, long-term position with the potential for a permanent appointment depending on performance and departmental needs.

The school has a strong literacy culture and values creativity, expression, and critical thinking. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality English lessons and contributing to the continued success of a supportive, forward-thinking department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated English Language and Literature lessons for Key Stages 3 and 4.

  • Prepare students for AQA or Edexcel GCSE examinations with a strong focus on progress and attainment.

  • Mark and assess student work regularly in line with school policies and provide constructive feedback.

  • Contribute to curriculum development and departmental schemes of work.

  • Support pupils with varying levels of ability and create inclusive learning environments.

  • Take part in faculty meetings, whole-school training, and CPD sessions.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Holds UK QTS (or equivalent) with specialism in English.

  • Proven experience teaching in a UK secondary school, ideally with experience delivering to exam groups.

  • Strong subject knowledge, particularly with GCSE texts and language papers.

  • Confident classroom management skills and a creative approach to teaching.

  • Committed to continuous professional development and collaborative working.
