Teaching Personnel require an experience English Teacher to work in a very specialist provision who provide education for up to 170 pupils, aged between 11-16 years old. The school consists of multiple sites across the Hull area. The school requires a experienced English Teacher who is good with managing challenging situations. The school is commutable from Hull, East Riding, North Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire.
The setting deploy a wide range of teaching strategies to engage and develop the progress of learners, who present with a range of learning difficulties and styles. The students are taught in smaller class sizes and all students work towards GCSE or equivalent qualification including functional skills. The school offers unique learning packages to each learner to best suit their interests and needs. All learners under go an admission meeting and assessment to ensure their needs are met.
As the English Teacher you will work with the Head of English to establish a cohort of learners and individual outcomes to suit their needs and capabilities within the English subject. The role of English Teacher requires a passionate and enthusiastic individual to work particularly with those students who may have received all manner of set-backs in and outside of education.
This role is initially offered on a temporary Long term contract until the end of the academic year with the opportunity for a permanent deal for the next academic year.
The duties of the successful English Teacher would include:
- To plan and effect enthusiastic English lessons
- Providing day to day support to the children to improve their SEMH
- Effective behaviour management
- Establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding to their individual needs
- Encouraging pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the English Teacher
- Work effectively with the whole school team to improve the learners experience
Key Skills/qualifications Required:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent
- Have an understanding of the English Curriculum
- Min 3 years experience of delivering English to GCSE standard
- Have the confidence to address conflict and challenging behaviour, once trained
- Be willing to work flexibly and constructively as part of a team
All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
