English Teacher – SEMH Provision – Darwen
We are seeking a committed and compassionate English Teacher to join a specialist school in Darwen, supporting pupils aged 10–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people who require a tailored and nurturing educational approach.
Location: Darwen
Start Date: ASAP or September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, permanent or long-term
Salary: M1 £31,650 – UPS2 £47,338, dependent on skills and experience
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver the English curriculum in line with the school’s schemes of work
-
Plan and teach engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the needs of all learners
-
Work collaboratively with the Head Teacher and leadership team to uphold the school’s vision and values
-
Support pupils’ academic progress and personal development, including their mental, emotional, social, and physical well-being
-
Monitor, assess, and improve teaching and learning outcomes, setting high expectations for progress
-
Identify and address areas of underachievement with appropriate strategies and interventions
-
Contribute to the recruitment, induction, and development of teaching and support staff
-
Build strong working relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies to support pupil success
What We’re Looking For:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Experience or a strong interest in working with students with SEMH needs
-
A resilient, empathetic, and adaptable teaching style
-
Strong classroom management and communication skills
-
Commitment to inclusive education and continuous professional development
