English Literature Students / Graduates – Primary School Literacy Support Roles (Stockton & Surrounding Areas)
We are currently seeking enthusiastic and committed English Literature students or graduates to support pupils in primary schools across Stockton-on-Tees and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on classroom experience while helping children develop essential phonics, reading, and writing skills, and to build experience for a future career in education, teaching, or literacy-based roles.
Location: Stockton-on-Tees & surrounding areas
Position: English Literature Graduate / Student – Primary School Literacy Support
Start Date: Ongoing
Pay: £90–£100 per day (depending on the role)
Shifts: Flexible (full-time or part-time available)
About the Role:

Support pupils in primary school settings, both in and out of the classroom
-
Work one-to-one or with small groups to develop phonics, reading fluency, comprehension, and writing skills
-
Assist children who may be struggling with literacy or require additional support
-
Help deliver engaging literacy interventions and classroom activities
-
Encourage confidence, enjoyment, and progress in reading and writing

Work closely with teachers and school staff as part of a supportive team
What We’re Looking For:
-
English Literature students or graduates (or related degrees such as English, Creative Writing, or Education)
-
A strong interest in literacy, language development, and primary education
-
A patient, encouraging, and enthusiastic approach
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-
Experience working with children is beneficial but not essential
This is a fantastic opportunity for English Literature students or graduates looking for flexible, rewarding work in primary schools, while gaining valuable experience supporting children’s early literacy development across Stockton and nearby areas

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
