English Literature and Language Cover Supervisor

Are you a Graduate of English seeking a unique opportunity to gain school based teaching experience?

Are you keen to explore teacher training in the future?

Are you interested in gaining paid school based work experience?

The school based in Chichester with good links to public transport are seeking to recruit an energetic English Graduate who has a natural leadership ability to work in their English department as a specialist Cover Supervisor from September 2021 (sooner if possible)

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be required to cover lessons in the absence of a usual member of staff delivering the lessons that have been pre set. On occasion, you may be involved in planning lessons and with support from the department, assessment. You may also be utilised to provide targeted 1:1 intervention and learning support.

The school are looking for someone who:

  • A good degree in English and a higher grade pass at GCSE
  • Has a good presence about them and demonstrates confidence in a classroom
  • Can take instruction as well as use their own initiative
  • Can work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the department
  • Is happy to contribute to extra curricular activities to further enrich the students experience of the subject
  • Is confident to implement school policies in relation to behaviour and safeguarding
  • Is an excellent communicator
  • Has good IT skills
  • Is able to build excellent rapport with young people and deliver lessons in a way that engage and inspire pupils

To have some experience working with young people would put you at an advantage, however full training will be provided including ‘how to be an effective tutor’, safeguarding and we can even enrol you onto a Cover Supervisor course if successful.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
