Do you have experience in supporting children/young people on a one-to-one basis and are you looking for some flexible work?
We are searching for an English tutor to work directly with children and young people by supporting them to better understand the curriculum. The role involves encouraging pupils outside of mainstream settings.
This English tutor role involves providing informative, engaging sessions face to face with children at their residential home. This is often alongside a school or social workers to support their pupil with alternative provision.
What to expect from this English tutor role?
- You will be planning resources around the child’s needs as this could be likely on developing their knowledge on English.
- Resourcing engaging and creative lessons to get pupils back up to speed in their learning.
- Being able to manage and implement different behaviour strategies and coping mechanisms would be desirable in this role as the pupil will likely have behaviour needs that need to be met.
What are we looking for in a English tutor?
- English specialist or the experience and knowledge of teaching the subject.
- Have experience working with children or young people.
- Range of behaviour management and coping mechanism.
- Able to plan and deliver core and cross-curricular engaging sessions.
- Applying skills to get pupils education back up to speed.
- Checking that pupils are on track to achieve their desired learning outcomes and being able to provide feedback.
- Desirable - SEN experience

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
